Calculate the gravitational force acting on a given mass of precious metal or another material. This calculator is useful for understanding the relationship between mass and weight force, particularly in jewelry-making, material handling, and basic physics calculations.

The result depends on the mass and the gravitational acceleration used. The default value is standard gravity, 9.80665 m/s², but actual gravitational acceleration varies slightly by location. This calculator determines gravitational force in newtons, not mass or the weight of a metal in the commercial sense. It does not determine material density, composition, or purity.

Model and limits#

$$ F=m\times g $$

Mass is converted from grams to kilograms and force is reported in newtons.

The default is standard gravity, 9.80665 m/s². Actual local gravity varies; the result is a force, not a mass.
